Most will look down on a construction worker, yet they don’t know that they were the ones who built the buildings, facilities, and other structures they are currently using. 1. A construction worker does not need special skills. 

It’s one misconception that some people believe because you can quickly become a construction worker. You can find many workers on a construction site with specific skills that no one else can do. Each construction worker’s skill is critical to completing the project without encountering any issues. 

Most of them also take years to perfect their skills to produce excellent construction results. They mostly concentrate on the “crafting” aspect, which means that it isn’t mindless labor. Every job they do requires accuracy because even a tiny mistake can lead to many problems happening with the project. They also need to have the capability to overcome obstacles they encounter by using their wits and creativity. 

2. Construction is only building houses

Construction isn’t only about building houses. They may have gotten that concept from watching too many reality TV shows that focused on giving homes an extreme makeover. They don’t know that a construction company built the sidewalks they use or even stairs they walk on. You should know that there are three main branches of the construction industry, which are: 

• Residential Construction - It refers to the construction of houses and other buildings where people can live. Usually, the buildings will occupy several family members. 

• Commercial Construction - Most companies will need a place or building to conduct their business, creating commercial buildings. 

• Industrial Construction - This talks about handling projects related to constructing factories, plantations, oil rigs, warehouses, and other specialized facilities. 

3. Construction does not require tons of education

While some construction workers may not have a degree, they have specific skills that contractors need to finish a project. While you may get a job as a construction worker without a college degree, you will still need to undergo education and training to become certified as a construction worker. 

Most of them will undergo apprenticeship programs, where they will go through a series of tests and exams until they pass them and gain enough experience to work on a construction site. 4. Construction is only for men

While it is true that men dominate the construction industry, you can still find several women becoming heavily involved with it. Some even lift bags of concrete, while others operate large industrial cranes.
